A drizzly start to the day dampened the ground but not spirits in southland. as hords of punters filled the arena that was the Frew Farm. Epic day of controlled and not so controlled chaos ! Recovery , national champ and some good waves! Cracker start to the year ! Plenty of swell and favourable winds to start 2016 Mid month and the week before nationals we were graced with a grunty swell , offshore winds and some insane riding! You can see all the images of that weekend in the blog under this one. The tail end of the month has been plagued with variable winds and inconsistent swell but still some rideable waves if you were prepared to search. Over the past couple of days I was lucky enough to shoot some of the nations best at my local. I hate crowds..... fuck I hate crowds but watching some of the best in the bizz in optimum conditions was a genuine pleasure. Billy Stairdman on a deadest screamer. Summer!! Fuck Yes!! Some near record temperatures saw droves of ice cream licking, speedo wearing holiday makers invade the beaches this month. A few good swells mid to late December and our usually empty beaches' started to feel like Snapper rocks! (maybe not quite that bad) To end our year here at Blacklabel we welcomed Asher James Campbell in to the world , all be it 5 weeks early but all are doing good. Hope everyone managed to find some barrels over the holidays and will spot you next year! Later Tommy looking for cover  Shit got serious for a bit Got to spend a few hours here , nice and clean eh! Later Up and down in November , a few good swells and a few short flat spells. The wind drove us all crazy for most of the month , but the air and water temp are on the rise! Best thing about November? No more hoods ,no more booties and no more 5mm wetsuits! Roll out the 3x2, summer is here yeowww! With swell after swell getting in I have spent most of the month in a wettie shooting and surfing. Not a complaint! Spent 2 nights shooting at the Disturbia fundraising event for St John , was a killer event that saw them raise a fair chunk of doh ! Chur  New lens port for the housing got a thrashing over the long weekend ,loving the perspective of the 50mm. Disturbia was a walk through horror house and Halloween ball , so many good people put so much work in to this and it certainly showed!  How good was labour weekend !! Has been a funky month for weather and waves , but towards the end, it finally feels like summer is on the way. Southerly snow and sleet turned a few roads into ice skating rinks and delivered a solid south swell producing the best waves of the month. Its been a long cold wet and pumping winter but with the arrival of the beloved daylight savings comes more time to surf and shoot! See you out there!  Loan warrior copping an eye full! In a month plagued with erratic winds and shitty decision making , I spent the majority of it chasing rainbows. Hours of driving from one end of the coast to the other zigging when I should be zagging. Really it had to end , after 3 of the best months down this way our luck had to change. Managed to grab a few frames in between drives so here is August. Please be kind to us in September Huey! Prints available from contact page With temperatures plummeting and the evil white stuff raining hell upon us in this neck of the woods , it would have been easy to take refuge at home in front of the fire and do fuck all !! Thankfully we didn't!! Weather sorted its self out later in the month and allowed me to get away on a few missions . Armed with a new water housing for my 7dmkii I was frothing to get amongst it! After some time spent going over the falls and being rolled along the bottom , I managed to get a few good frames ! Heres a gallery for the month of july, enjoy!
