Capping of an epic year with a month full of swell!
The weather has been average and has probably kept a few away , the hail fell and the wind sandblasted all in its path , but if you could deal with the elements there was some good waves about!
The other element ..... tourists and with tourists comes totally fucked driving , from 70kmph on the open road to the wrong side of the road the campervans have kept my voyages to and from the beach both terrifying and entertaining. My middel finger is knackered.
Spent a lot more time surfing than shooting this month because fuck it its the
So just a few from the month , hope you had a cracker new year where ever you were and are looking forward to the one ahead!

No shortage of waves over the month , but certainly not to many visitors down this way riding them.
The last weekend of July provided the pick of the waves for the month and there was no shortage of punters , plenty of good barrel rides going down despite being pelted by sleet and rain!
The skies have been pretty epic lately to so have been out hammering the landscape buzz.

Where the F$#@ is winter? Has been a record high for the half year and I'm not complaining! But I am weirdly missing the cold south westerly flow that brings snow , sleet and pumping waves to our piece of coast.!
Still June produced its fair share of waves and I managed to be on the spot for a few of them , so here's the latest from the southern coast.
Rights were the pick this day.
Has been some killer sunrises this month , and the water is still not bad !

Swell swell swell !!
Winter arrived in a hell of hurry this month mind you bout time!
The south was flooded with swells one after another but sporadic winds made it hard to be in the right place at the right time.
Probably surfed a bit more than I photographed this month which is a constant dilemma . Here's a couple from May , long weekend coming up and looks like a bit of swell to so mite see you out somewhere..... Later
Plenty of water time this month ,so stoked about it!

Unseasonably good weather and plenty of swell was the theme of April , and whilst work ended any chance I had of shooting Papas when it roared to life I did manage to snag a bunch of other waves and shots.
The end of April marked the end of my wedding season freeing up more time to hunt waves and find light , cheers to all the couples and wedding parties I have meet and hung out with for the day !
Whilst the good weather continues (which I'm grateful for) I am hanging out for the crisp winter swells , screaming southerly's and small crowds !
So here is a selection from the month hope it keeps you stoked!

One of the friendliest and well run contests to be involved with , we were greeted with clean couple of foot swell in the morning with the wind wrecking havoc by late arvo. You can find the results here https://www.facebook.com/www.southlandboardridersclub.co.nz/
The end of daylight savings and summer brings mixed emotions , on one hand the cold shorter days can be frustrating but on the other big sw swells and offshore winds help me get over it!
